Com), addresses an effective method to fighting injustice, protesting, which is found in both the readings on Socrates and Martin Luther King Jr.’s Letter From Birmingham Jail. But what causes injustice so that “there may be times when we are powerless to prevent” it? From my desire to address the primary cause of injustice, resulted my thesis that ignorance anywhere is injustice everywhere.
Imperialism is the control over younger/weaker countries in which one can use them to acquire essential resources. During this time, England was sucking all of the smaller, developing countries under its control(Document E). This was a great tactic used by the British, for then they had obscured more resources than any other rivaling countries. Yet sadly, later on, it was misinterpreted as a sign of war and stirred great tension throughout Europe. With all of their small colonies Britain became the leading motherland of resources with 456 million people working beneath them(Document F).
Imperialism is a term used to define a country extending its power through military or diplomacy over another country. The term, in the nineteenth century, included various actions, such as economic exploitation and cultural imperialism. This could include anything involving two groups with one having some degree of control over the other for their own gain. The cause of this change in world relations in the nineteenth century cannot be traced back to one reason. Possible contributing factors comprise of nationalism, social darwinism, and the hope for economic power.
Imperialism is when a strong country extends its power and influence on a weak country. In the 1800’s, Europeans were trying to colonize Africa so they can profit from. In addition, it was completely different than other imperialistic takeovers as now you had several powerful countries all looking to colonize an entire continent. Europeans used imperialism to colonize Africa for many reasons such as religious, moral, political and economic gain. The first motive was to spread Christianity to the native peoples of Africa.
Imperialism is expanding a country’s influence and power using military force or diplomacy. This greatly helped many countries, such as Great Britain, France, and Germany. However it hurt other countries who were not in favour of imperialism, such as Egypt, China, and India. Peoples in colonized countries developed nationalist resistance movements to protest imperialism, both violently and nonviolently, whereas supporters of imperialism claimed it brought modernity, civilization, and education to “backward” colonized people. Imperialism is more easily understood when put into context.

The way these three components are involved in the driving force because they all helped shape and push everything together to make more efficient. The first component that helped take over land or “European Imperialism” was Technological power.

The late nineteenth century was known as the “Age of Imperialism” a time when the United States rapidly expanded, defending many countries with not enough power to defend for themselves. United States was on a specific world mission to spread liberty and democracy. Along the way America came across China and it’s valuable resources, U.S. could trade for. Imperialism is a positive policy for the U.S.A. because it enlarges trade, helps weaker countries allowing them to spread culture, and expands industry.

In the 1800s there were four types of imperialisms, which were; Colonial imperialism, Economic Imperialism, Political Imperialism, and the Socio-Cultural Imperialism. Colonial Imperialism, this form of imperialism is virtual complete takeover of an area, with domination in all areas: economic, political, and socio-cultural. Economic Imperialism, this form of imperialism allowed the area to operate as its own nation, except for the trading and other businesses.
