Strengths
- Tesla launched the first electric vehicle that is capable of driving on highway, called Tesla Roadster, in 2008. This shows that Tesla is innovative and has a strong team of engineers.
- Other than selling its own vehicles, Tesla also sells powertrain components to other automobile companies, such as Daimler, Toyota, and Freightliner. This means that Tesla is an influential, positive collaboration partner amongst automakers.
- Tesla Motors has the most loyal customers and received the highest owner satisfaction score in the 2013's Consumer Report. Tesla Motors also builds a strong connection with its customers by writing post entries and organizing meet-ups for environmentalist and electric-cars enthusiasts.

- As the awareness of environmental issues are growing, demand for environmental-friendly products, like electric cars, are rising.
- The automotive industry was weakened due to the increase in the prices of gasoline and the loss of demand for sport utility vehicles. This leads to the domestic competitors, such as General Motors, Ford and Chrysler, to face potential bankruptcies.
