The largest competitor of RJ Reynolds is Philip Morris USA, which nowadays owns the biggest tobacco market share in the US. Philip Morris & Co was founded in 1847. First, it was a London tobacco shop that started making tobacco products.
More than 150 years later, PM was a leading manufacturer of cigarettes in the US (a number one position since 1983). Its headquarters is situated in Richmond. Now they produce some of the most well-known brands in the consumer products industry which include Marlboro, Virginia Slims, L&M, and Parliament. These brands are best-selling cigarette brands in the US and are well-known all over the world.

By 26% more people believed that passive smoking was harmful.
