What Is The Falsity Or Incompletion Of My Understanding Of Eschatology

At times I’ve rummaged through the relevance of my Christianity in a modern age that hasn’t necessarily marketed the necessity of Christ and the resurrection. In my explorations, I’ve found myself attached to nihilism, Machiavellian principals and at my worst, an apathetic expression of life where I have made up value depending upon the circumstances that ensnared my existence. A substantial reason for my struggle with Christianity in the foundation of my faith was the falsity or incompletion of my understanding of eschatology. I knew that the resurrection of Christ would save my soul during the “end times” when the old world would plunge into a “river of fire” and the day of the Lord would be at hand, but what does that mean to me in …show more content…

If Jesus (who was physically human) can be raised from the dead (which is the depth of impossibility) there is no obstacle that can overcome or overwhelm the will of God in any situation. Moreover, the affirmation of a crucified savior that can be resurrected from death inspires a sense of hope from the profundity of despair. The affirmation becomes a declaration in which the mantra, “With God, all things are possible” suddenly begins to make sense.
I have hope, the words forever boom in the inner ear of my soul.
I have hope because I have zeal for the object of my hope. If God raised Jesus from the dead, then any of my trivial pursuits or perceived limitations are insignificant. My future becomes tied to Jesus and the example of the power of the logos .
In regards to hope, Moltmann states, “He is our hope. In thus announcing his future in the world in terms of promise, he points believers in him towards the hope of his still outstanding future.” (Moltmann, 1993)

Hoping in Jesus leads to meeting him on his terms. Jesus makes a proclamation that he will interject himself into our future and we must take his word as truth. Therefore, we are bound by a promise to faithfully hope and live in expectation, as a promise is a declaration of a future NOT yet realized. It is the openness toward a divine coming
