Everyday people will follow orders given by the authority, whether they want to or not and even if they think it is wrong. Stanley Milgram did countless studies on this to find the truth behind the startling idea. He was curious to know if people would follow orders given by the authority to the point of hurting another human being. The test included a teach, learner and experimenter. The learner hand to memorize word pairings, and every time the learner gave a wrong pair they were given an electric shock, 15 volts (little shock) to 450 volts (XXX). The learner for the most part gave wrong answer to see what the max level of shock the teacher would give them. Take the army for example if you are a private, you take orders from a commanding officer, those orders given are not be disobeyed or second guessed. After the war Adolf Eichmann was executed in 1962 and in his jail diary the found this quote, “The order were, for me, the highest thing in my life and I had to obey them without question.” A reason people follow orders to circumstances such as harming another human being might be because of punishment, like death or torture. In Conclusion our society is based on obedience and following regulations and laws.
