Political cartoon In the cartoon “Raising the Debt Ceiling” by Ken Catalino, you can see President Obama sitting in a Pool of water that is being dumped by a pipe labeled spending. It also shows Obama saying the ceiling needs to be raised because of the amount of water being dumped in the room the ceiling marked as Debt. Catalino intention was to show people who voted for Obama what he has done since he started his term as President. Catalino claim is that Obama has raised the nation's debt by spending a great deal of money. This cartoon is not quite funny but serious; this mode is created by the way the author shows Obama drowning in a pool of water symbolizing the money we owe and how he wants or needs to increase the ceiling makes things worse. Obama walked into a dangerous situation in which “President Bush’s last budget created a deficit of 1.16 trillion after subtracting the spending on the ESA”( National Debt Under Obama). Obama ran straight into this issue and too many people Obama handled this situation well. Support from people can easily be found, so many people are understanding and helpful towards the decision he makes. This problem could be resolved by helping people except the support that will be granted with the money or help Obama spend less money and instead of increasing debt teach him how to decrease debt.
