Most would think that the Author of the Gospel of John is John himself; however, the truth is we simply don’t know. We’ve identified the author to be “the Disciple whom Jesus loved.” Yet, to this day the author of the Gospel of John is a mystery. The possibility, however, of the author being John is still very likely.
The author, whoever it is, attempts to reassure the readers of Jesus messianic title. Throughout the book, Jesus performs many signs. Each, of which, was written to prove that Jesus is more than just our Savior.
Jesus is Yahweh or God. He is the light and life of our world. He was also not only the Messiah but the Son of God as well. The Gospel of John informs us that Jesus has always been both human and divine.
Furthermore, the Gospel of John was specifically directed towards the Jewish-Gentile Community. Mainly, to persuade those who may have been skeptical of Jesus. “Jesus is the Son of God,” the author tells the readers. He reminds the readers that Jesus Christ, God the father, and the Holy Spirit are three divine persons in one.

The Gospel of John is organized into 21 sections and opens in a poetic style. John crafted this gospel with eight signs: seven pre-resurrection, one post-resurrection, and seven “I Ams.” The author attempts to interpret the deeds and signs for the readers.
