Describe the major shift in foreign policy under President George W. Bush and the approach President Barack Obama has taken in foreign policy, 2009-2011.
Answer:
The major shift in foreign policy under President George W. Bush was that President Bush was under the Bush Doctrine. The Bush doctrine basically gave the okay for America to attack a foreign nation if their only reason backing them up was that they believe they will soon attack America. (Even if they were no threat to us)
Under President Obama, he did not follow this doctrine. Instead he lead by the standard that Clinton had left. Meaning we can only attack a foreign nation, even if they hadn’t attacked us, if they are attacking their own people. Then they could possibly become a threat to us and other nations.
