Women were mostly the ones taking care of their families and raising their kids in the 16th century. Their main role was taking care of the kids, husband, and home. They were expected to have a child every year, or every other year. That depends on their social class. Women basically had no control over their lives once married. Not many people divorced. Divorcing was unheard of. If a woman was married to a king, the only way for the woman to rule the country is if her husband died and she had no sons. If she had a son, he would gain power instead of her. Lots of housewives had to make bread and brew beer for their families. They couldn’t drink the water because it was not safe back then.
