Sal experienced many common changes, yet hers were so rare. Sal goes through many changes because of where she is, or going. The novel Walk Two Moons covers the importance of the changes though the setting. The most important settings in Walk Two Moons are Bybanks, Kentucky, Euclid, Ohio, and Coeur d'Alene, these settings change Sal’s life forever. In Walk Two Moons Sal grows up in Bybanks, Kentucky and experienced many things. In the beginning of walk two moons Sal talks about how her father took her to Ohio “Over a year ago, my father plucked me up like a weed, and took me to Euclid,ohio, (Creech 1). The author shows Sal grew up and leaned on Bybanks until her father took her away quickly to Euclid, Ohio, to find a life away from her mothers memories. Sal did many out of ordinary things like, “ In Bybanks… I faced that tree and kissed it firmly (113). This is important to the setting and character because it describes Sal and her personality. In Ohio Sal and Phoebe got a message “ Don’t judge a man until you’ve walked two moons in his moccasins” (49). The author makes this important by making it the first time Sal really thinks about walking through her mother's moccasins. Sal meets Phoebe to help her along the way, “One day at lunch Phoebe told me I was brave… we walked home together that day” (12). This is important because it was the first time Sal got to know Phoebe and felt partly welcome. Sal does many things no matter what, “I got a great deal out of that spit… it gave me coage” (248).
