The Pastors there to help with those who wants help in a spiritual way. He will be there to pray for you and your family who are already dealing with the disease. This is a very important part in my program planning because African Americans are very religious. They believe health is gift from God. Most think that illness is a result from not being obedient to God or may determined by fate. Sometimes believing that their health is in God’s hands can prevent them from treatments or preventive measures. African Americans believe that illness comes from the devil. Any adult will be able to have the Pastor praying for them, or they will be able write down their prayer request. They typically do not have professional training and don’t diagnose. Now, a dietitian is a little different because it is a person who has certifications to be able to work. They organize food and nutrition plan to promote healthier eating habits to prevent illness. A dietitian usually works in healthcare facilities. So, these two are going to be beneficial to my program planning. They will teach you knowledge on organizing and planning your foods to focus on health. There will be a nutritionist and dietician I know to come and talk to the group about eating habits, and give advice on portion sizes. It would be a short open discussion talking about different things you can replace to eat. The physicians would be there to help in the medical area of things. I will have a few physicians there helping with blood pressure reading and BMI. This part would be great for those who cannot make it, or afford to get that blood pressure reading. If necessary, I would also bring in checking for diabetes. We would then take down the names of who did the testing and let them know the results. This would very beneficiary in my program because who can just walk to their neighborhood church to get their blood pressure
