Romeo and Juliet The minor characters play an important role in the downfall of Romeo and Juliet by pushing them into secrecy and forcing them to construct a large and complex plan that ends in the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Although the minor characters play a large part in the eventual deaths of Romeo and Juliet, the actions of Romeo and Juliet themselves also aid in their tragic end. All their fortunes are destined from the start to happen and so fate, chance and coincidence play a big part in their tragic end. The most important reason for their downfall would be both Romeo and Juliet. Tybalt is the trigger that sends Romeo and Juliet off on their downward path. He is always causing trouble and never once in appears in the play without being in the context violence. He is constantly harassing Romeo and trying to make him fight. When Romeo finally does fight him to get revenge, he ends up killing him. Romeo getting banished means that when Friar Laurence and Juliet plan their devious scheme Romeo is not able to hear about it straight away, and in fact never hears about it, which leads to him killing himself on top of her still living body. …show more content…
