Women in technology in the early 40’s were not common at all and the first women to work with the suicide square, she is passion at mathematic, but she is not interest in engineer or science or technology like many of her male peer in the group. Which women employment during that time find it hard to adjust with family situation as women starting working outside of home like men. Many potential women got held back because of their gender, their family issues, education and so on, that women were not being recognize for the work they contribute. The human computer was an interesting group that is domain by women, who are only use paper and pencil to calculate and analyzed data for many of the experiment conducting in the lab. Which this group of women are not only the core of the JPL, but they were the most trothing group that man relies on more than any computer machines when come to accurate calculation. Computer was not that advance during the time than as it is today, there are many rule to use one and when it broke it will be very difficult to fix as well, which a lot of the engineer find computer to be annoys and difficult to handle to work with. Women hiring to work for Jet Propulsion Laboratory were all qualify women with strong education background to work as an engineer, but women were not yet recognizing to be an engineer by men because man still believe that women are not enough to have that title. Despite of this are not well welcome into the industry and mostly due to their gender and race. Women are easily dismissing for that kind of reason for instance, many women left JPL because they were married and pregnant and with this kind of condition will make them unable to come back after they had left. There even situation where women try to challenge the superior, but she ends up being firing from work instead, which this incident show that women are not value in their workplace. For instance, Janez Lawson was an Africa America who left JPL after she get married and she is the first women to be able to use computer like the IBM 701 or like Barbara who have working for JPL for a long time, but she was fire for her pregnancy and this is an unfair.
