However, he abused this position of power and made several choices that were detrimental to the welfare and rights of the American people. Jackson implemented the spoils system on a national scale and had unofficial members of his cabinet who did not have to answer to Congress. After South Carolinians were upset by the Tariff of 1832 he was angry toward those who did not agree with it. He also destroyed the National Bank and authorized the Specie Circular.
Andrew Jackson was known as “Old Hickory”. He was given this nickname because he was considered “as rough as the bark on a hickory tree.” He was born on March 15, 1761 in what is present day North and South Carolina. He was born to a widowed mother who had emigrated from Ireland two year prior. During his youth he attended several different academies in the Carolinas.
Andrew Jackson, being a tyrant, abused his power in his time of presidency. He was the 7th president, but before Jackson’s presidency, he had no political experience. One of the only things that really qualified him was the hardships he went through when he was younger. Jackson was born into a poor family in 1767. From there on Jackson was a rebellious teen who happened to be imprisoned at the age of thirteen. Once Jackson grew up he experienced a great number of occupations from a lawyer, to a general, he finally chose to enter the world of politics.
Andrew Jackson was born in Waxhaw, South Carolina, March 15, 1767, and died June 8, 1845 in Nashville, Tennessee. He was known as the man of the people. People deem him ‘the common man of the people’ because he bribed his ignorant fans, supporters and illiterate farmers (who made up 90% of the populace) so he could have their votes (the ‘spoils system’). I see Andrew Jackson as a person who disobeys the constitution and violates people 's rights.

Jackson’s passion in life was racing and wagering on horses.

Did Jackson do a good job of changing the type of people who participated in the country 's economy and politics? His presidency certainly increased equality throughout social classes. When he came into power after the 1828 election Jackson began to carry out his proposals. Jackson expanded the voting right to all men, in accordance with the Declaration of Independence of 1776 which declared that “all men are created equal” instead of just the elite.

Jackson, also called “Old Hickory” was a very bold proactive man in American history. From being a military hero and founding the democratic party to enacting the trail of tears and dismantling the of the Bank of the United States, the man and his legacy are a prominent topic for scholarly debate. Some believe he was a great president and some believe he was the worse president. But if you look at it from a moral perceptive or in the eyes of a foreigner, Jackson’s legacy was far more villainous than heroic.
