Everyone knows where to go to get cheap groceries and has a huge selection among retailers, the answer is Walmart. Walmart is a family business that has been in the United States for a long time. It started with a man named Sam Walton who was married to Helen Robson. Sam Walton opened the first Walmart in 1962 in Rogers, Arkansas. In 1967 the Walton family owned twenty-four stores making $12.7 million in sales. This was a fast profit jaded by the Walton family. Sam made the company a welcoming place go to because of how well his associates worked with the costumers. Sam did a great thing by sharing his goals with his associates so the goals could be met within the company. Also started out the new times with a new CEO H. Lee Scott Junior. Walmart.com launched Site to Store in 2007 so customers could make a purchase online and pick up merchandise in stores. In 2009 Mike Duke became CEO and Walmart reached to Chile. Part of the reason people love Walmart is because the company wants to help people and give back. You can see that in the 2000s that Walmart helped after hurricane Katerina and Rita. Walmart contributed $18 million and 2,450 truckloads of supplies to victims. As the company changed with different CEOs and adding new Walmart's on the map the logo changed with the times. From 1962 - 1964 Walmart was printed the only way the printer could then in 1964 - 1981 the "frontier front logo' came about. After this period they dropped the frontier look and until 1992 went back to a plain look. The next look was putting a star in middle of the word. The star lasted until 2008 then the iconic spark at the end came and that is the logo we know and love. Another interesting part of the Walmart history is the Walmart Museum. It came from Sam Walton's 5&10 in Bentonville town square in 1950. This Museum shows Sam Walton's leadership and his family. The Museum doesn't only hold a 5&10 to go back in time but also The Spark Café Soda Fountain.
