Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls is about a boy and his dogs and the passion they have for hunting. In the book, a boy lives on a dairy farm and he really wants hounds for hunting. He works for 2 years to get them. He hunts with them every day. There are some scary moments when he thinks his dogs are going to die. Then one day his papa tells him about a hunting competition and they go to it. After a couple of days at it they actually win it. The books shows that nothing can last forever .
