In this play Othello by William Shakespeare there was a lot of displaying themes, love, loyalty, trust, hate, and jealousy. Some people may disagree or agree of Desdemona not being guilty of her own death. I think she was not guilty of her own death because she was unaware of what was happening and why Othello was acting a certain way because he would not tell her why he was acting that way. She was not taken noticed of when she would try to prove herself innocent. The women in this time were seen as weaker than men, Desdemona was not able to do anything about her death, which gave Othello more power over Desdemona. Othello was angered and jealous of Cassio and Desdemona because Iago said that he saw the handkerchief in Cassio’s hand. Desdemona made Othello angry by asking him to give Cassio his position back as second in command and standing up for him. Desdemona standing up for him and Othello knowing the Cassio had the handkerchief in his nad makes him think that something is going on between them two. In scene 4 act 3 Desdemona says “ This is a trick to put me from my suit. Pray you, let Cassio be received again.” In the stated quote Desdemona is being distracted from the handkerchief which is what Othello is trying to talk to her about but she keeps talking about Cassio.
