In the book, “Anthem” we explore inside the mind of Equality 7-2521 and how his mindset changes from “We” to “Me”, making him a very dynamic character. Equality 7-2521 is in a sense a more “Superior” being to his peers and those around him. He possesses a bright and adventurous mind; it’s almost like he doesn’t have any weaknesses at all. The only visible trace of weakness is the guilt inherited from his society about pursuing his own happiness. As the story progresses Equality starts to evolve beyond the guilt which he has endured for so long.
Anthem is a novel about a man, Equality 7-2521, who has been different from everyone else ever since he was a child. Equality has more ambition than the other people and he also breaks some of the laws. such as using the word "I" and keeping secrets from the council. But, his collectivist society taught him that being different is a sin so, he tries hard to suppress his curiosity and his desire of wanting another job than what the council assigned him. One day, as equality is working , he sees the beautiful Liberty 5-3000 among the peasants.
A dictatorship is the everyday life of Equality 7-2521 and Liberty 5-3000. In Anthem, by Ayn Rand, Equality 7-2521 lives in a society in which equality is enforced in the laws of the dictating society. No one can be different from anyone else, nor can one person spend more time with one person than another. Equality 7-2521 is dictated by the leaders of his society though he increasingly does not believe in his leaders morals. His morals and ethics follows the advice Ayn Rand offers in her essay “How Does One Lead a Rational Life in an Irrational Life?”
In the book, “Anthem” by Ayn Rand she explores many different topics about our daily life as human beings. One of the characters she uses to explore these topics is a young man named Equality 7-2521. Equality 7-2521 is a young man that was raised in a dystopian society on which all men must strive to be equal, but Equality is different from them. He’s got different motivations from the rest of the men that he has grown with. He’s curious about the world around him and wants to know how everything works.
“It was not that the learning was too hard for us. It was that the learning was too easy. This is a great sin, to be born with a head which is too quick” (21). Equality 7-2521 is an exceptionally intelligent individual born into a society where intellect is considered evil. Though he originally believes that he was “born with a curse,” (18) he eventually comes to realize that his “curse” is intellect and individuality which he learns to love.
‘‘We are nothing mankind is all , By the grace of our brothers are we allowed our lives ‘’ Ayn rand the author of Anthem wrote the book after she left Russia because of the war, she moved to New York writing Anthem a dystopia about the future of mankind In her novella there are two major themes talking about the collective society vs. individualism were every one is the same nobody has the authority to be a individual also the council of vocations determines there jobs life and future the people don’t have a choice whatever they choice they accept and that is it no discussion, the council of vocation has removed all individuality so when equality may have started to uncover the coated truth the council has another plan for him as known the council of vocations has an absolute rule when it comes to jobs and they assign equality to the home of the street sweepers because they want to keep him down. The council of vocations make equality a street sweeper because they hope to prevent him from developing his intelligence even more as they assumed that may have dumbed him down and get people to assume he is beneath them and this is achieved when the council makes a mockery of equality for wanting to join the world council of scholars “A street sweeper! A street sweeper walking upon the world council of scholars!
“Anthem”by Ayn Rand takes us on a journey through the eyes of a young man named Equality 72521 living in the future in which people have lost all knowledge of individualism and where all decisions are made by committee the Council. Equality 72521 struggles immediately from the beginning of the story because he is “cursed” by being intelligent and inquisitive and having individual thought, which is against the society in which he lives in. Growing up as a young boy, his dream is to become a scientist and work on new discoveries and inventions. Instead, at fifteen years old, Equality 72521 is assigned by the Council to a menial job of being a street sweeper. His daytoday life is very routine and mundane and he rebels against this life and starts conducting research in a secret tunnel where he discovers and recreates electricity.
There was one time a teenage boy with the name of juan , juan ever since he was young he would the right thing but once the got to college he got really scared and he started to think if he should go or not . At the end he decided not to go and started to work with his father in the family business. But at time people would ask him why he decided not to go to college and he would say because i was scared. His cousins one day tell him that being scared of new things is normal but at least try and fail but at least you try , you will just need to get better for next time.
Literary Analysis for Anthem by Ayn Rand by Grayce Schettler, Walker Keel, and Katlynn Hagen. The book, Anthem, by Ayn Rand is a very complex book. This book is a good book to choose for those who like futuristic stories, or stories that need deep thinking in order to comprehend the book. In this book the main character, Equality 7-2521 is afraid to be independent, since there is no such thing as independence in this story.
Communism, a political theory advocating social war, was born in the 19th century, farthered by Karl Marx and later took a toll on the rest of the world. The Bolshevik Revolution took control over the Soviet Union and communism began to rise in Russia and everywhere else for that matter. Communism sparked rebellion and believers. In the novel Anthem, the author Ayn Rand recreates history using connection, characterization and tone in a fictional futuristic dystopia. Anthem is a society based on collectivism, basically where there is no such thing as “I”, “me”, or any type of selfish pronouns.

When he was sitting in the forest he thought about all the laws he broke and the most important one he stood out as an individual. The Society don’t like individuals so society demands collectivism, conformity, and equality, but Equality 7-2521 wanted to stand out as an individual and defied the laws of the society and stood out.
