If I could choose to be any mythological character in the complete Trojan myth, I would be Odysseus because he is wise, cunning, and clever. In the book Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Edith says, “Odysseus, who was one of the shrewdest and most sensible men in Greece, did not want to leave his house and family to embark on a romantic adventure overseas for the sake of a faithless woman” (251). This quote shows Odysseus’s wisdom and tells everyone that Odysseus was not willing to participate in a war because of an unfaithful woman who was taken away from her husband.

Unlike the previous two divines discussed, Athena and Apollo who essentially choose sides to meddle with, Zeus influence both the Greeks and the Trojans. He has a more neutral stance in the plot and is the dispenser of good and evil. This neutrality is probably because he does not want to see Troy disperse and destroyed by neither the Trojans or Greeks, but at times it is seen that he favours the Trojans more than the Greeks. Further, Zeus has control over the other gods and goddesses by negotiating, planning, and making judgment calls relative to whether or not the gods should intervene and when.
Though he may be ridiculously unintelligent and emotionally unstable, he had a burning passion for justice and making things right. No matter how many people he had accidently killed, he always made it right by doing more and more good deeds. He was constantly working to become the best man he could. Though he couldn’t think properly, he was a man of his word. Hercules and Theseus both did great deeds, but Hercules just achieved more because of his strength.
