The book Odyssey is one of the oldest books in literature. In the book it teaches lessons about loyalty, hospitality, and vengeous. For example, the myth of Argos, Odysseus trains Argos as a puppy to make him brave and strong. Then, Odysseus leaves for war and gets lost for twenty years until he finally comes home to find out his dog was not taken care of or treated kindly. They only reunite for a short while until Argos passes away.
Though the Iliad's meaning in the novel is strong, the significance it has on the actual story isn't much. It only appears for a short period of time during the Winter Carnival scene in the book. At the beginning
Admirability in Odysseus Odysseus is an admirable hero, right? Maybe not as much as you think. Throughout “The Odyssey” Odysseus does perform many heroic feats, such as saving his men from the Lotus Eaters or freeing his men from Calypso. Despite this, he also takes part in less admirable tasks, such as sleeping with Calypso and Circe or murdering the suitors without thinking of the consequences. Because of this, is he still an admirable hero?

From his clever escape from the Cyclops to his great thinking when visiting the Laistrygonians. Odysseus is a master strategist who always manages to stay one step ahead of his enemies.
Odysseus, a True Hero In the Odyssey, Homer beautifully illustrates Odysseus’ qualities that make him a hero. While reading the Odyssey, a reader learns of the hardships Odysseus and his crew face on their treacherous journey home from the Trojan War. They experience dangerous traveling conditions and terrifying monsters, and only Odysseus makes it out alive. This was a journey full of unfortunate events and learning opportunities. Odysseus proves he is a true hero by showing throughout his endeavors that he is clever in his actions, devoted to the people around him, and good hearted in all aspects of his life.
Traits of Hero Tom Hanks once said, “A hero is somebody walks voluntarily into the unknow” (Hanks). In Homer's “The Odyssey”, Odysseus displays he is a hero. In the story Odysseus goes on a ten year journey with obstacles and eventually makes his way home to be reunited with his family. Many of the obstacles have shaped Odysseus as a character for the better. On this 10 year journey throughout the story, Odysseus shoes responsibility, loyalty, and wisdom, which are all traits that makes him a hero, One of the traits that he demonstrates is responsibility with being a hero.
Since the beginning of history, there have always been heros. Many different stories have been passed down and shared over the years. Heros come and go but the enduring qualities we look for in a hero does not. Although two different types of heroes may have nothing in common, the qualities that give them the name “hero” stay the same. Ancient greek heros and heros today get the name by being brave and determined, but unlike todays heros, Ancient Greek heroes get their qualities from the cruel behaviors they engaged in, like Odysseus.

An example of this is the word museum which comes from the word muse. The Muses were greek goddesses of the fine arts who were prayed to by philosophers, musicians, and artists who seeked inspiration. The Greek poet and author of the famous stories The Iliad and The Odyssey was one of them.
The Exemplary Hero of Odysseus “The Odyssey” is an epic that describes the journey of its main character Odysseus, who displays many exceptional qualities. Homer, who fabricated the fictional wanderings of Odysseus, is well known for his skilled incorporation of moral standards in his characters. Odysseus exhibits many of these principles in his actions. Ma’at, an ancient Egyptian concept of ethical values such as truth, balance, order, law, morality, and justice, is comparable to Homer’s moralistic Odysseus. Many of these virtues can be identified in Odysseus at times as he reveals them throughout his journey, specifically with his humility, exceptional patience, and eminent courage.
In Homer’s, The Odyssey, the traits of an ideal Greek man is described many times over. Often times, Homer indirectly illustrates these characteristics through the qualities of men who do not appear to be ideal. Zeus relates the traits of an unideal man: “Greed and folly . . . stole his wife and killed the soldier on his homecoming day”(2). Zeus’s description of Agisthos, the man who had an affair with a king’s wife and killed him after he returned from the Trojan war, chastises this behavior, he indirectly teaches men the characteristics of a quintessential man.
Symbolism is prevalent in the plot for the epic poem The Odyssey, written by Homer, and is found in a variety of objects as well as characters throughout the story. This composition takes place in ancient Greece, with Odysseus, a Greek hero, taking the lead role. The epic consists of him trying to go home after The Trojan War, and event that happened in the prequel to this epic, called The Iliad. Each of the variety of characters in The Odyssey symbolizes a quality that can be discovered in humans, with the author applying social commentary to highlight the outcomes of having said trait.
It tells the story of mighty hero Gilgamesh, the hero king of Uruk, and his adventures. The Iliad is an epic poem written in the mid-8th Century BCE. There is always to sides to abortion. There are always to sides to every story, good or bad, and there is no exception to the subject of abortion. Pro-choice and pro-life advocates, who go head to head on debates and arguments concerning abortion and the rights of those, who choose to have them. Homer travelled and gained the story of Odysseus, and he create the verbal form of the Odyssey through this information (Beye, 1968:158). This poem is a classic in real terms and recounts some historic facts about the last ten years of Trojan war and the Greek siege city of Troy. Tracing back its history, Iliad is thought to be written back in 8th century B.C. and it is considered one of the earliest works in western literary tradition. It captures the scene of blood, abductions, murders, wrath of Achilles, revenge, anger and intervention of gods. The scene of warfare and blood are presented in the poem through oral tradition initially.
