The Tragic but beautiful story of “Romeo and Juliet” has been taught and read for hundreds of years, with memorable and often loved characters. But who is to blame for the tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet? Many might say Tybalt, as he was violent and hated Romeo. But I think there are multiple people and factors at fault for their deaths and I think those might be the feud between the capulets and montagues/ their parents, friar Lawrence and themselves. The feud between the capulets and the montagues forced Romeo and Juliet to keep their love a secret, if the families hadn’t had this feud then they wouldn’t have had to fake Juliet’s death which had led to both of them really dying. This also ties into the parents being somewhat at blame as well, if the parents were less focused on fighting and more focused on their kids they would have noticed they were in love and that Juliet didn’t want to marry Paris but Lord Capulet doesn’t seem to care about that. “Monday, haha! (II vi 9) this meant that the Friar knew it wouldn’t be possible for the two to get married without the final product being tragic, but he still went through with it. The Friar is also responsible for assisting Juliet in her fake death plan which occurred after Juliet told him about the planned marriage. Friar Lawrence made the entire plan and it would only work if everyone did their part but the Friar relied on somebody else to do his part which ultimately cost Romeo and Juliet’s lives.
