The United States as the Leader in automotive manufacturing.
In the United States of America as everywhere else in the world, the usage of automobiles is exploding in popularity and increasing in demand. As of 1999, it was reported that there were 700 million registered motorized vehicles of which the United States had contributed over 20% of auto variants such as trucks, SUV's and cars in general (Alvord, 2000). By the 20th century, the rate of automobiles worldwide outnumbered the human population thrice. In the US alone, car manufacturing increased at a rate that outnumbered human births by six times of what had been reported in 1969 (Pimental, 1998). Environmental Detriment by Carbon Emissions.

This requires for cutting edge innovations to be practiced and continually advanced. For example, German engeneeirs are utilizing touch screen technologies in the BMW series of automobile. Since their debut in touch screen technologies, various other American manufactures have imitated or followed suite in this style of feature for cars. Many American manufactures see this as uncessesary bluff in American traditional turcks and cars that seem to focus more on the importance of horse power, transmission functions and towing ability. The American traditional work truck is now on the verge of becoming extinct next to its predecessor- the American work trucks with the imitated touch screens that BMW and other international manufacturers innovations. American auto manufacturers are now also facing a huge expense that before would be unheard of. The American consumer alike is being captivated by the technologies and innovations that the international competition is springing into the mainstream industry of Automobiles, thus, American manufacturers have to stay competitive, if they wish to
