In act one scene two, Captain says, “...For brave Macbeth-well he deserves that name-...” This shows that he is a likeable person who has only the objective of serving his king. After meeting with the witches and hearing his prophecy, Macbeth starts to think about what it would be like to be king of Scotland.

Well in Shakespeare's play The Tragedy of Macbeth depicts the rise and fall of Macbeth, Although there are many characters in the play Lady Macbeth stands out as being the most responsible for the tragedy. Since she manipulates her husband, encourages him to commit murder, and ultimately leads him to his demise. Lady Macbeth is most responsible for the tragedy of Macbeth.
Macbeth’s battlefield heroics were reported to King Duncan as, “But all’s too weak: / For brave Macbeth —well he deserves that name — / Disdaining fortune with his brandished steel, / … And fixed his head upon our battlements.” (1.2.9-23) It appeared that all odds were stacked against Macbeth as he faced the rebel Macdonwald, assisted by a strong Irish army. However, Macbeth proved too strong for the rebel as well as luck.
Macbeth was working toward being the king of Scotland in the beginning after meeting the three wired sisters. And being told that he was king to be, so it inspired him to do anything that he had to to become king. It did not matter the circumstances he would do it. Even if that meant killing his best friend. Shakespeare has Macbeth stand his ground until the end and lose his fight after trying his best. We are shown glimpses of the Macbeth we saw in Act 1 – brave and valiant – but in an altered context. In Scene 3, Macbeth says, “I’ll fight till from my bones my flesh be hack’d”. We can see he wants to die as someone who, though hated, fought confidently and skilfully. In Scene 5, Macbeth also says “At least we’ll die with harness on our back”.
This debate between the pity found in Macbeth’s mental state and the fear he evokes through his actions continues as Macbeth becomes a vicious tyrant. Not only does he kill off more of those around him, including the family of MacDuff, all for the sake of proving his power over those around him, but he rains famine and tragedy across the land. Macbeth’s inhumane actions easily draw fear from the audience as it expresses how uncontrollable and deranged, he has become; Macbeth is truly far from the hero first introduced. Extensively Macbeth begins to trust fewer and fewer individuals, he becomes more paranoid about the things going on around him. Specifically he can’t sleep and fears loosing his power.
Macbeth had become everything that he had ever wanted to be which was the king of Scotland and when the witches told him that someone else was going to take his crown he went to extremes to try to keep them from doing that which was eventually what lead to him dying. The witches had told Macbeth that the sons of Banquo would take his crown so he decided to have Banquo and his son killed Macbeth said, “Our fears in Banquo stick deep/ And in his royalty of nature reigns that which would be feared”(3.1.49-51). Macbeth did everything he could to protect his crown, but that is eventually what lead to his downfall and his death. He killed his best friend Banquo which was when his ambition had gone to far and was the beginning of his decline.
Macduff and Malcolm go to war against Macbeth eager for revenge. Macduff, vengeful for his family’s death cuts off Macbeths head, and Malcom takes his rightful place as king. Macbeth’s Ambition and Greed resulted in his downfall. Constantly wanting more, Macbeth allowed his blind ambition to dictate what actions he took to obtain being king and staying king.
He let his ambitions take control of his actions. Macbeth is a tragic hero because he redeemed a small measure of his nobility. He redeemed himself by fighting until the end of his life. He understood his fate and still fought.
