Who Caused the Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet? Romeo and Juliet is a a story of full of love but it ends in great horrific tragedy. Many people can be blamed for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, Friar Laurence and The Fued have had a much greater influence. Many people even belive it to be that Tybalts is the root cause of their deaths. Romeo and Juliet met at a party hosted by the Capulets that Romeo stuck into with Mercutio and Benvolio. They fall in love quickly and are married the next morning in secret by Friar Laurence. In the same evening Romeo and Tybalt get into a fight. Tybalt kills Mercutio, Romeos best friend, when he try’s to kill Romeo. These events cause Romeo to kill Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin. He is banned from Verona, so he now has to sneak in to the city risking his life to see Juliet on their wedding night. Juliet and the Friar devise a plan so Juliet can sneak off with Romeo. The fued kept them apart. Romeo had been banned from their city after he had killed Tybalt to avenge Mercutio, he was not allowed back in Verona which was not a terrible punishment compared to its counterpart. The prince after the fight in the beginning of the book on page 15 when speaking of what would happen to the next people who fought he said “…I’ll say this once more: go away or be put to death.” The fued also caused many deaths from both sides and even killed some who were not a part of the fued at all. Like Mercutio, who’s death the fued caused even though he stood for both families. With the death of Mercutio that in turn caused Romeo to kill Tybalt. The fued caused Romeo and Juliet to have to sneak around to see each other. Romeo had to sneak sneak back into Verona to see Juliet if the fued had not been there the sequence of events would not have happened. While the fued played key rolls, and absolutely is to blame, but you can also blame Friar
