Who is the Most Responsible for the Obesity Problem in the World?

Obesity is coming to be a raging problem; its consequences are affecting everyone in the society. Everywhere we go, we see more overweight and obese people, more fast food places and more children developing unhealthy eating habits. In order to tackle such problems we must know the root cause of it, in other words, who is responsible? Everyone is putting the blame on the other. The customers are blaming the companies; because they are the ones that are promoting the fast food. Some other people believe that the government should take the blame; because they are responsible for oversight on the standards of fast food companies, and should raise the awareness of the public to make the correct decisions. The fast food companies are saying that each individual is responsible for his own actions and that they have the choice whether or not to eat this food and that their lack of exercise is the problem. What I believe in is that everyone should take part of the blame and that obesity is a product of everyone’s actions. …show more content…

As their food has great amounts of salt, sugar, casein, and fat they are both leading to overweight and then obesity as well as make the customers more addicted to their food, hence creating a vicious circle. The drinks sold include huge amounts of sugar, and the company’s quest for more profit by encouraging the customers to upsize their drinks and potatoes can only make the problem worse. Furthermore, as a result of all of this 1 out of 20 (5%) of Americans now suffer from type 2 diabetes. In addition to that, fast food has caused 20% of obese children to undergo poor liver function. These points contribute the most to the causes of obesity and health problems, and hence fast food companies must bear the lion’s share of the blame for this global
