Cell Phones: Are they Necessary? Steven Spielberg a famous known director stated this, “Technology can be our best friend, and technology can also be the biggest party pooper of our lives. It interrupts our own story, interrupts our ability to have a thought or daydream, to imagine something wonderful because we’re too busy bridging the walk from the cafeteria back to the office on the cell phone.” During school hours, there is a never ending discussion on whether or not students are allowed to use their cell phones in or out of class. When given the option to use the cell phone as a tool, teachers would like to monitor students and know when students ‘claim’ to be looking at proper apps or websites. Although smartphones and iPhones are the most popular used device, schools should not allow them in class, or in the hallways. It could cause distraction, lower in - person conversation, and can cause cyberbullying in and out of school. Although everything can’t be as tearful as E.T going home, or the fright of the shark sneaking up on you in Jaws, there will always be that one person in the movie theatre on their phone. The scientists, researchers, and technologists, we have today are still trying to figure out ways how to involve cell phones in class or out of class, but does this occurring problem ever reach a light at the end of a
