There are major and minor political parties, as well as regional political parties, historical parties, non- electoral organizations, and who knows how many more. With so many to choose from, most of which I have never heard of, I will choose three that sound remotely interesting.

While the Democrats and Republicans are the dominant parties, there are third-parties such as the Libertarians, the Tea Party, the Green Party and many others. While they are small and a third party candidate has never won a presidential election, they can have a significant effect on the outcome. Such examples include the Elections of 1912 and 1992, two years in which the election was changed by the actions of a third party candidate. This also applies to our current presidential election in which one of the Republican frontrunners, Donald Trump, has vowed to run as a third party candidate if he feels mistreated.

Jefferson’s and Hamilton’s different ways of thinking(mostly on issues that was beneficial for the country) played a huge part in the start of political parties. They fought about economy. Jefferson liked farming while Hamilton preferred manufacturing and trade. Interpretation of the Constitution was another thing they fought upon.
In George Washington’s Farewell Address, he highly discouraged the creation of political parties. They would divide America, and ultimately bring the country to collapse. But since before its creation, America has always found a way to categorize people into groups; whether they be Patriots or Loyalists, Federalists or Anti-federalists, ect. Though Washington was probably right to warn America, political parties are almost unavoidable. Ratified in 1781, the Articles of Confederation sparked the creation of political parties.
Party system refers to the way parties are organized, the balance of powers between and within the parties, and the issues or ideas which the parties are organized around. The Federalist and Jeffersonian Republicans were the first party system to immerge in the seventeen nineties. The federalist focused on the concerns of New England merchants. The wanted to rebuild a relationship with Britain, assumption of debt from the revolutionary war, and programs with encouraged manufacturing. The Jeffersonian republics were run with southern agriculture in mind.

A political party is an alliance of like-minded individuals who work together in an effort to win elections and control the government in their favor. They compete against each other for political power and the ability to put their ideologies into affect. There are two major parties in the United States, the Democrats and the Republicans. Their philosophies and political platforms are very different. Democrats believe in a strong federal government that has an active role in citizens lives while republicans believe in a small government that should have little to no role.
Political parties serve countless roles in America’s government. Foremost, it needs to be said they are crucial to America’s political system. The political parties are the heart and brain of our government's body, urging people to conceive and feel different ways on different topics whether the controversy is over how money is distributed or the way immigrants should be treated or dealt with. With each party having a biased view it shows how a group can be increasingly powerful with bountiful amounts of support, names and divisions can be heard. Democrats are widely known to be liberal rather than conservative.
Political parties are politically recognized organizations of citizens who form to defend their interests. Having a political system that allows the freedom to form a new political parties or to declare membership in already existing ones, promotes democracy. As such, political parties are an indispensable part of the democratic process. However, there are also negative consequences to having political parties. Political parties saw their origins in the 17th and 18th centuries in the UK, evolving from previous political organizations called factions.
