Answer the following questions about the play- Be sure to give reasons for your responses as support and refer to play for details that help illustrate what you believe to be the answer:

1. What kind of man was John Wright? How do we know? Why do you think his wife killed him?
John Wright is a man who likes peace and quiet, and keeps to himself. We know this from a comment that Hale made saying, “folks talk to much” and “ all he asked was peace and quiet.” I believe that his wife killed him because he was a miserable person to be around. If he always wanted to be left alone, and neighbors such as Mrs. Hale never visited because Mr. Wright was in it; it leads to some motives that she would kill her husband.
2. Why can’t the men see “the evidence” …show more content…

Wright killed her husband. They walk into the kitchen and the Sheriff dismisses everything in the room saying, “Nothing here but kitchen things.” The men in the play seemed to judge her more about her housekeeping skills. The women in the play, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters, were able to see the evidence because they were thinking about it from a different perspective. They were able to notice that maybe the quality of life for Mrs. Wright was not what she wanted because of Mr. Wright’s personality, and that is why she killed him. They even bring up how Mr. Wright “killed” her singing and did not seem to want children as other possible
