The media has stated, more and more, that the “Millennial” generation has become too involved with the digital world to be able to confine to the daily repetitive tasks of a regular job. In fact, many millennials are choosing to forego college and immediately jump into any available job until they become bored, quit, and then move onto the next thing that piques their interest. There will always be small positions available for people that like to work like this; however, the experience and pay will never equal what one desires by choosing this path. Having a college education seems to be more important and productive road to take. Going to college will secure a person with better opportunities in the work force, teach many needed job skills, and help integrate a person well with other cultures. Throughout most students educational upbringing, the importance of college has been mentioned more than once. Having a college degree in a specific field helps someone find better job opportunities because they have taken the time to be trained in that area. Even if someone has a degree that isn’t in a job’s specific area, many managers are more willing to give that person a chance over someone that doesn’t hold a degree. …show more content…
Multi-tasking is a great example of one of these skills. Job expectations can be enhanced by going to several classes, handling different projects at once, and having set due dates to report by all help with the real-world job expectations. The research and typing one does for class projects help strengthen job skills and will likely be beneficial later on. Computer knowledge is of the utmost importance in the work field. College prepares one with all the computer safety, tips, and tricks that help move through assignments easier, whether in class or on the job. Simple daily skills are needed in every job. College helps strengthen those skills and will teach many different avenues to use
