All the taxation took its toll on the economic status between the colonists and Britain. Prior to the French and Indian War, the Wool, Hat, and Iron Acts forced Americans to ship materials to Britain to be built, but then later buying the products from them. However mercantilism was soon abandoned when the colonists decided to fight back. The Stamp Act enraged many of the elite colonists, and as Benjamin Franklin states, they wanted to "get it repeal'd" as soon as possible. They chose to boycott, and they chose not to import or consume the product Britain wanted them to, thus the relationship economically between the two places was significantly

The British men gathered full control of the trading center present in the Americas, and created the Navigation Acts to help aid them in their tactics to take control over all trade within the Americas. The Navigation Acts were passed under a mercantilist system, and was used to regulate trade in a way that only benefitted the British economy. These acts restricted trade between England and its colonies to English or colonial ships, required certain colonial goods to pass through England before export, provided subsidies for the production of certain raw goods in the colonies, and banned colonial competition in large-scale manufacturing. This lowered the competition in the trading world for the British and caused the British to have a major surge in power, that greatly attributed to the growth of their rising empire. The British’s ambitious motives in the trading world help portray a way that the British took control of an important piece in the economy of all of the other nations present in the colonies in the time period, and shows another leading factor in the growth of the British empire.
The relationship between Great Britain and the North American colonies changes drastically from what is was prior to 1763. This was mainly caused due to the French and Indian War or & Years War as they called it in Great Britain. Mercantilism was a big concept in Europe during that time and it emphasized self-sufficiency. A country would want to export more goods than they imported to achieve an optimal balance of trade. The North American Colonies helped Britain achieve this because they would ship Britain raw goods at cheap prices who would use them to manufacture goods to export at higher prices.
They were able to trade with basically whoever they wanted to, participating lucratively in the Triangular Trade. With this, many merchants lined the coast of the Americas, patiently awaiting the incoming slaves from Africa or the goods from England, while greedily exporting their tobacco. Many established a life off of this competitive economic system, trying to soak up the finite wealth of the world. After the French and Indian War, which was a war fought for control of more land against the French, the English realized that they needed to tighten their strings in
Prior to the war the English tried to enforce the Navigation acts which was threating the colonial desire for economic growth. It seemed baffling that England should prevent them from being able to take advantage of the resources of the west. The colonist were not going to be forced into obeying the unpopular Parliamentary laws. Americans considered it illegal to tax the colonies. With a series of events the colonies were becoming more resistant in the British trying the exercise direct control over the colonies.
They accomplished this by having colonies in the Americas, and establishing a trade balance that benefited them. Another way they were able to make money was by taxing many goods that were imported into America. This is what upset the colonies, because they did not agree with everything that Britain did. The Parliament kept on telling the colonists that they were being represented in the government by an expert on colonial affairs. This seemed like a good idea for Britain because they would be able to listen to the expert and pass laws that seemed reasonable to them.
There were a mixture of people in the colonies at the time of the American Revolution. The Englishmen that lived in the colonies felt that the British government was treating them badly. As the government continued passing laws and taxing the colonies, the Englishmen began to rise slowly toward war against British. The British government was using the colonies for economic gain. By the end of the Seven Year War the British government was millions of dollars in debt.
‘New money’ would allow upward social mobility. Also, there was lots of land that could be acquired, and that allowed for economic growth. Mercantilism was a way that the British kept economic control of the colonies. This way, the colonies would make money for Britain. The navigation acts and the sugar act were both laws enacted to restrict trade in the colonies.
They did this through social, political, and economic factors. Ideas of freedom, laws passed by British Parliament, and limiting trading led for people in America to grow resentment of British rule
Great Britain colonized the new world for economic, social, and political purposes. In doing so, the British founded the thirteen colonies under the crown of the king, Jamestown, Virginia being the first. The British forms a self-government that makes the colonies a republic because the people of the colonies vote for a person to represent them. With the British, creating a self-government that changes as documents are written, signed, and released, conflict arose between Great Britain and the new world, and the British and the natives. Economic reasons that the British went to the new world are gold, social reasons are God, and political reasons are to break away from the crown.
In around 1607 to 1763, the mother country, England began enforcing many political and economic goals in the American colonies. In order to establish dominance and superiority, the British government believed that by enforcing certain values and order into the American colonies, it would lead to the enrichment of the mother country. The English Government enforced strict values onto the American colonies, depriving the colonists from their right, which led to the increase of smuggling and the rebellion from the colonists. The English government had enforced Navigational Acts in order to control the Americans trading rights.
During the colonial era of America, Great Britain was able to reek the benefits of this royal colony’s success. This was in large part due to the fact that Britain was able to integrate this society into its imperial system. English leaders understood that the American colonies represented a marketplace for goods, a safety valve, and a place in which competition flourished with other leading empires. One of the most important reasons why Great Britain established colonies in America was to create another form of revenue.
