His domestic policy was so strict political parties were illegal to form and he even made the Okhrana, a secret police that arrested and imprisoned any political critics, rebels, or those who voiced a negative opinion against the Russian autocracy. As a result, the citizens, especially those of lower class, despised the government and would often attempt to revolt. However, since the revolts were unorganized and ineffective, Nicholas II was able to end them very swiftly. After the defeat in the Russo-Japanese War in 1905, Russia suffered extreme humiliation as well as economic decline.
With no signs of the czar’s attempt to solve the complications, Russia banded together and filled the streets with strikes and riots. A revolution was peaking among the peasants. The uprising brought Nicholas ll no choice but to abdicate his throne. This was an opportunity

There were roughly six countries involved, and a factor for this war taking place was the growing fear about the power Russia had obtained. During the war, despite Russia being a match for the Turkish army, they were outmatched in regard to the power of the European military; this drew further attention to the backwardness of Russia in comparison to the western countries. Russia was ill-equipped to provide their troops the necessary supplies in a timely manner, and there weapons were outmatched by the modern weapons their adversaries were using. Nicholas I died in 1855, devastated by the standing Russia had in the war, and his son Alexander II became czar during this war. Alexander II accepted a peace treaty in 1856, reluctantly.
Soldiers took their homes and citizens cared for them. While the people focused on the soldiers, they starved themselves. Tsar Nicholas II’s wife Alexandra highly influenced Nicholas’s autocratic tendencies. Majority of the Russian people believed that Alexandra had too much of a significant impact on the Tsar leadership.

The Cask of Amontillado In “The Cask of Amontillado”, E. A. Poe presents the thematic idea of revenge; Poe does this by showing us the action through Montresor’s perspective. If Poe were to write the story through the eyes of Fortunato or as a 3rd person point of view, then the theme would ultimately change. Writing it through Montresor’s eyes is the most effective way to illustrate the theme of the story. The telling examples of revenge are when Montresor is thinking to himself or monologuing.
