Summer Sabol Mr. Morin Bible 2 October 2017 The sanctity of life goes hand in hand with being made in the image of God. The value of human life, sacredness, and beauty are part of the definition. The way people treat others implies their beliefs on the sanctity of life. Christians should hold the sanctity of life very high standard. One of the very first examples of violating the sanctity of life is when Cain killed his brother Abel. Cain was angry because Abel’s gift to the Lord was excepted but his was not. The killing of Abel was out of vengeance, and Cain then lied about it to the Lord. The killing of Abel correlates with the recent Las Vegas mass shooting. They killed countless people, put families through situations nobody wants to be in, and ended up taking their own life. No thinking about this it is hard to believe that in all of what both of these men did they felt the need to take their own life. That is already showing that they felt A sense of guilt that could only be distinguished by taking their own life. The question is why did these men think that in any sense what they did was all right. God intended people to live on the earth in peace. He created us in his image to show us how valuable we are. We are the only things that are made in his image, so our value of human life should be based on the fact we are made in God’s image. The Lord punishes people greatly for the killing of another person. He himself in Genesis 3 killed an animal of some kind to clothe Adam and Eve, for they realized they had sinned because they ate of the forbidden tree. The killing of an actual person is way different like Cain was cursed and sent out of the land because he killed his brother. They Try to find value in many things without putting the Lord in it. This can have a bigger effect on some people then on others like in the cases of these mass shootings. Obviously they don't even value their own life because they ended up killing themselves, so if that's where it starts course they are not going to value others the same. The root cause of this problem is most definitely sin. The world will try to say it’s because of the availability of guns, lack of education or mental problems; but sin is unavoidable. Every person is born with a fallen mind; nevertheless, when people do not have their foundation on the Bible and all their believes come through it, that is when there will be problems. If Christians will be more open about the gospel and spreading it this problem can be easily fixed. Many people do not have any idea of anything in the Bible. The Lord wants everyone to be treated like he treats his children. He loves everyone dearly, and does not want people to suffer. It is through the choices we make that determine if we are going suffer. The sole purpose of someone living needs to be built on a biblical worldview.
