As clinicians get accustomed to use the EHR documentation system, Lavin, Harper, and Barr (2015) stated that nurses have also expressed their dissatisfaction with the EHR design. One major flaw is the lack of true collaboration with the IT, vendors, and clinicians. Health informatics and clinicians have their different standards that need to be expressed and complement the EHR system. Lavin et al. (2015) mentioned the nurses’ experience with the IT and vendors’ unresponsiveness to the nurses’ concerns because their goal is just to teach the system and its functionality to do the job. When a concern was voiced, Lavin et al. (2015) cited that IT would just use the limitation of the software functions as

(2015) continued to cite that the nursing voice is lacking in the innovation of the EHR design due to the perception of the nursing profession as not influential enough to make decisions or generate revenues to the institution. On the contrary, Lavin et al. (2015) asserted bedside nurses as risk managers, using the nursing process of identifying the risks, collecting facts, planning and intervening, and evaluating outcomes. Thus, nurses, according to Lavin et al. (2015) are good strategists, problem solvers, and decision-makers. From personal experience, the nurses’ role in patient care are complicated enough to add informatics involvement to it. However, realizing the need to adopt to the EHR, the nurse, who constantly practices the art, science, and ethics, can apply and test the system to fit into the nursing care routine. With the real scenario application, the nurse can make intelligent suggestions based on the standard of meeting the safe, efficient, and avoiding waste, which will be invaluable to the HIT in the EHR improvement. Moreover, Lavin et al. (2015) encouraged nurses to pursue informatics and for educators to incorporate health informatics to the nursing curricula. Having an understanding of informatics can assist nurses to coordinate the IT’s standards with the nursing
