The novel Lost Names by Richard Kim gives a glimpse of Korea during the period in which Japan had colonized it and had been conquering a plethora of other Asian countries. It follows the life of a young boy as he and his family live in the colonized country of Korea and speaks of how their lives were effected. The writing is accomplished in giving testimony to the occupation of the Japanese of Korea and its people and the ways in which they enforced allegiance to Japan. By means of policy, law, and everyday practices the Japanese attempted to create an allegiance to themselves from the Koreans; while the majority of these succeeded at some level they also created a deep set hatred by the people because of the oppressive practices used.
The reader can see this because Janet not only lists the various names which both characters have adopted and decided to go by, but also because she explains their significance to said character. For example she points out that, Turin gave himself his own name as a way to escape his past, but he never really wanted to escape his past, for he kept on renaming himself. The persona/voice of this text is that of informative, for you can sense that Janet know what she is talking about and has clearly read Tolkiens works and has thought critically about them.

The reality of their society, however, is not. Some may say that they are perhaps the most judgmental and unaccepting society to have ever lived in America.
Harry S. Truman actually had no middle name. Truman's parents gave him the middle initial S to honor his grandfathers Anderson Shipp Truman and Solomon Young. The S did not stand for a name. Picture in your mind a United States filled with safer citizens where lots of stores and banks worry less about the chance of robbery. This could happen if we allowed citizens the use of concealed handguns. I believe that since concealed handguns reduce crime, stop public shootings, and help people in times where law enforcement can't arrive soon enough, adults should have the right to own concealed handguns. One good reason is that allowing citizens to use concealed handguns reduces crime.
