We Need to Keep The Supreme Court The Way It Is People have started to voice concerns about changing the Supreme Court at the center of the US legal system. While some want term restrictions, others want more justice. But is messing with the highest court a risky move that could mess with the foundations of our democracy? The Supreme Court is referred to as the highest court in the federal judiciary, with the authority to interpret federal law and the Constitution as seen in Article 3 section 1 of the Constitution. In recent years, there have been talks about reforming the Supreme Court. There are many sites wanting change. For instance, the website Demand Justice wrote an article called Reform the Supreme Court and claims “The Supreme Court …show more content…

Congress can at any time change the number of justices as they have done previously, and many people want them to do so. In addition to many people wanting more seats available, many people want term limits to be added because “Term limits would give each president the opportunity to appoint the same number of Supreme Court justices each term, reducing partisan gamesmanship around each confirmation and making the Court more democratically representative” as stated in the article Reform the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court of the United States should not be reformed. Court-packing is only an argument in today’s world because certain political parties are unhappy with cases that are not in their favor. Although implementing term limits might promote turnover and diversity by maintaining the current number of justices, we can not ensure that it will. We need to protect the principles that have defined America for more than 200 years. In recent years, talking about reforming the Supreme Court has become popular.
