Francis Marion Francis Marion was a American Revolutionary war general, known simply as the ‘Swamp Fox’, and he helped dislodge the British occupation of the South, and he was one of the most important figures in keeping the Revolution alive, at least in the South. I will refer to him as ‘Marion’ or ‘Swamp Fox’ for the duration of the essay. Civilian Life Marion was born in modern day, Berkeley County, South Carolina, in 1732. He married Mary Esther Videau, when he was 54, after the war was over.

The World’s Columbian Exposition was among the highest attended events during in 1893. The World’s Fair as it was known to the world, broadcasted various inventions that were deemed revolutionary. America was in the midst of the Gilded Age and Chicago was believed to be an acceptable location for this fair. Chicago was celebrating the four hundred year anniversary of Columbus’ arrival to the Americas and it seemed fitting for an outstanding presentation for middle class Americans and attendees throughout the world. Willis Tower, The Bean, street food, Lollapalooza are common thoughts fleeting through one's mind when they hear, "Chicago. " As opposed to millennials and my peers, I have a different perspective on Chicago. My parents experienced a rough time dealing with several complicated immigration places. Seeing that at the time Chicago was considered a "safe city" for illegal immigrants, my family uprooted themselves to Chicago. It was a city where there were thousands of other people in our situation, a big difference from my hometown, Dublin, Ohio.
I am amazed by the subcultures of San Francisco. I have never seen so many different people, interested in multiple and unique things. A walk around the city is an unique experience. You could start on Market Street seeing the everyday life of S.F. people. Then, walk from Stockton Street to Columbus Avenue observing the urban landscape, Union Square, Stockton Street Tunnel, Chinatown and Little Italy.
Are you visiting Rome? The city has many attractions. Vatican city, Colosseum, Stadio Olimpico, crusty thin pizza and many others. My personal favorite, and maybe the biggest attraction of them all is the Pantheon.
Sure it is a very busy city with weather that is always unpredictable, but the diversity makes up for everything. Specifically, in my neighborhood, there’s the typical fast food restaurants, such as McDonalds and Burger King, but then there’s restaurants that are authentic to the Hispanic culture. I’m sure that this goes for the other cultured neighborhoods as well. All of the different components that make Chicago great, not only emphasize on our diversity, but also emphasize how our city is developing and proves how Chicago is starting to take part on the infamous food
