In the essay “The Art of Surgery” by Richard Selzer, explains the value of writing and how it may allow us to form a realization within the meanings of pain, love, redemption, loss, and happiness. The power of writing allows one to escape their surrounding reality, and engage in a whole new world to express their own ideas, emotions, and thoughts. The reasons to why we may write can be various for any individual. I believe that writing can have both positive and negative consequences, to allow us to see why we may choose to write. Some of the positive outlooks of writing may include; understanding more about oneself, moving on from past situations, and learning more about the environment that surrounds us.
I write for myself first. An artist always performs for herself first. For me, in order to write, it cannot be on the side. Writing is a responsibility; therefore, it is life itself. My biggest frustration with people today is that they live unconsciously with little or no attention span.
Life without writing doesn’t feel worth living to me. I don’t know how I’m going to make it to graduation because I feel like a husk of a person these days. Some of those poems Amá destroyed I had worked on for years, and now they’re gone. Poof. Just like that.
Question 1 Why we write? Writing is a basic way to express your feelings, thoughts, opinion, and learning. A primary way to evaluate a person’s learning and intellect in college, the workplace, or even in the community is how the person writes about different things and shares his or her aspects. Writing helps in training a person’s communication and critical thinking skills. It helps in identifying someone’s personality and also makes an individual’s thinking and knowledge noticeable and long-lasting.
As technology becomes more prevalent in today’s society, more students find themselves writing on keyboards than on pen and paper. More so, many teachers nationwide debate the usefulness of continuing to teach handwriting in class. While utilizing technology has advantages for students nowadays, the ability for students to physically print is still imperative to their ability of cognitive motor skills and create effective ideas. Forming intellectual thoughts and creating propositions allows individuals to exceed in many ways throughout their lives. One way that those conceptual thoughts and propositions are created is through the use of handwriting.
While many applicants and parents may find themselves on the outside looking in after the college admissions season, for many top state universities, community college is an excellent end-around into school, with many offering automatic admission based on GPA. Community colleges have particular leverage among many elite public universities such as Berkeley and UCLA where upwards of 20 percent of the undergraduates come from community colleges. Second, all schools allow their applicants an out of a binding admission if they can demonstrate that they cannot afford to attend.
When it comes to writing a paper, letter, thank you card, etc., it is difficult for me. The reasons why writing is hard for me is because, a lot of times when I write I get distracted by, other people, thinking about something else on my mind, instead of what I am writing, finishing up my chores, etc. Also, when I write my grammar is incorrect, for example, pronoun errors. In other words, “Everybody don’t care if they hate it or not.” That was wrong, but the correct way to write it is, “Everybody don’t care if he or she hates it or not.”
It’s the rush of adrenaline flowing through my veins that first gets to me. I can feel my heart pounding in my chest, as my excitement levels rise to unaccountable amounts. I feel my body tense up as my breathing becomes deep and elongated, the longer I wait for the sooner I will pass out from containing myself, containing my joy. For most people writing is a task, a simple school assignment, a normal Saturday afternoon spent wasting away, staring at a blank screen with a blinking black line, as it taunts you. However, to me, writing is a way to connect to the outside world, a way to make my dreams become reality.
Why I Hate Writing Why I hate writing? I hate writing for many reasons. Writing a paper is very time consuming. I’ve spent so many hours typing a paper and only had a few paragraphs.
In my previous grades, my teachers always focused on grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary words, but they never once taught the students how to write an essay. School was difficult for me because of this. One teacher specifically, Mrs. White, helped me learn everything I know about writing essays in my seventh grade year of junior high school. After having her class, I feel significantly more confident about writing and I have her to thank for that. Being in the seventh grade and not knowing how to write was a big deal for me, I was embarrassed.
Like I said writing was hard for me. I think the reason being that I was able to read well so I didn 't have much to write about other than the stuff I heard. Even then, If I did write was wasn 't going to be able to read it. Now that I could do both better my doors have open
Before taking writing skills two I 've had a positive mindset towards writing because I see it as a way to express my thoughts. For example, whenever I feel a bit melancholy writing a short story or just free writing always makes me feel a bit better. On the other hand, I don’t believe I’m the best writer because like every other student I make mistakes in my writing. Although, I don’t take the editing negatively I always look back at my past essay and try to reflect on them to see how I can always improve my writing skills. Overall, I have a pretty good mindset towards writing even though I have my mistakes I know if I study harder I can become a better writer over time.
I enjoy expressing my thoughts in writing. Furthermore, even if the topic is not a personal opinion, I like to embark on the subject with my person opinion, rather than just the content for a subject. Using this allows me a purpose for the writing,
Writing is extremely comforting to me, I even find it therapeutic. As a young writer, I would write short stories on silly ideas like puppies or flowers because I enjoyed that. As I progressed through middle school, I picked up different styles of writing by reading books from various authors. The more styles of writing that I read, the more I wrote. I used to write about fictional characters and subjects.
I love to write, and the most important thing is that I need to spend uneg-uneg suffocating unto my chest, into this book. "Paper is more patient than men". Whenever I feel depressed, I always remember that phrase, especially when I 'm at home while doing nothing, bored without activity, thinking whether I should stay at home or go play outside. Finally, I stayed at home, brooding. True, the paper was more patient than men, and because I never let anyone read the book that I wrote called "diary" of this, unless I find a true friend, then it makes no difference whether I wrote it or not.
