The career that I will be researching is going to be automotive mechanics and technicians. The automotive mechanics and technicians career is based on fixing passenger vehicles. The aspects of this career field can involve working in close proximity to other mechanics, technicians, or customers. The automotive career can range from working on simply diagnosing a simple issue to performing preventive maintenance all the way up to replacing the parts of the powertrain such as the engine or the transmission. (3) The training type can depend on what part of the industry you specialize in. Most of the jobs within the field require one to be certified through vocational training and technical colleges which can be up to two years. (4) The location can be any kind of college, trade school, technical college, university in some states, or community college. The cost can vary depending on school and location but it can be upwards of $15,000.00 and I do believe it can be upwards of $30,000 in some states and universities that offer that. (5) The automotive industry can have salaries on a yearly bases for a normally certified technician that is not specialized in a certain motor company like Ford or GM can have a salary of $29,010.00 starting out and $61,820.00 being more experienced. Motorboat mechanics are virtually the same as normal automotive mechanics being that the motorboat and watercraft vehicles inspect the hull of motorboats. (8) The work environment of an automotive service technician and the mechanic can vary depending on the location and the environment that they are in. The environment can be dangerous with the lifts which can result in a crush hazard. In the shop it can be hot or cold depending on the time of year and your location on earth with the southern hemisphere being hot with fans and ac cooling the shops and the northern hemisphere being cold during the winter months with heaters heating the shops. The environment can either be indoor or outdoor, the determining factor if it is indoor or outdoor, can depend on the size of the vehicle, if it can be moved, or if you are going to the customer on the side of the road.
