Do you remember in kindergarten when the teacher would ask the class what they wanted to be when they grew up? The answers usually consisted of firemen, doctors, princesses, cowboys, or an astronaut. Then there was always the teacher’s pet who of course said they wanted to be a teacher (typical). Well college is a lot like kindergarten. Your advisor asks you,” what do you want to do with your life after college”, but this time the answers don’t come as easily.
Why College? Why College? College is my life long-term goal not only it gives me the opportunity for me to learn new things it also challenges; College also expose me to many different professions in my nursing career. College is important to me because I will be the first in my family to gradated with an Associate of Science to become a Register Nurse, opening many doors in the professional field, help build the numbers of male nurses around the world, and also make my family proud. After college I won’t be receiving a piece of paper with my name on it’s going more than that it help me do become successful in life.
My first thought of what I would do, as a career would be something far away from a high school. This was all true till my junior year of high school. I found my passion to teach. I found my passion three hours away from my high school on a fall weekend. I had an amazing opportunity to service as a camp counselor at an FFA camp.

I began college as a freshman at Central Michigan University thinking I was going to become an elementary teacher. I knew I wanted to make an impact on peoples lives but after my first week of classes, I remember telling myself becoming a teacher is not how I wanted to do it. I went to my counselor and added a social work course to my schedule. I had finally found courses I enjoyed taking and academically excelled in. Which brings me to where I am now, pursuing my degree in social work.
