While there are a few playing "real" country such as Whitey Morgan and Wade Reeves, the majority of it isn't authentic country. While there are artists such as Hank lll and Steve Earle who have confidently raised a middle finger to the Nashville establishment, it hasn't eradicated the onslaught of pop artists masking as country singers. If you think Carrie Underwood is country, then you've obviously never heard of Patsy Cline. Today, country artists are judged more on how they look rather than how they sound.

This is why Garth Brooks has become as successful as he has. He appeals to not only country music fans, but to also popular music fans as well. For one of his albums, he did release a rock-alternative album under the name of his alter ego Chris Gaines.

The radio affected America by putting everyone on the same page culturally, and affected how music and news were received by American families in the 1920’s. The radio broadcasted to music and news to an over 10 million homes by 1929. In a 1929 report prepared for RCA by Owen Young, then Chairman of General Electric, he wrote that the radio had, “helped to create a vast new audience of a magnitude which was never dreamed of… This audience, invisible but attentive, differs not only in size but in kind from any audience the world has ever known. It is in reality a linking-up of millions of homes.”
Because the American West was dominated by men, the frontier seldomly addressed the role of women, while also minimal developing overall femininity. However, the embodiment and existence of femininity itself was a precursor to the cowboy’s success within Westerns. After All, the cowboy needed the female in order to be married and keep his masculine figure in tact. Although the industrialized East created an allure of the liberation for the cowboy, the intensity of the Old West grew as the East came to alter its form. Thus, manhood was becoming re-established within both sexes.

I interviewed one of my high school science teachers about her favorite song. Dr. Barr told me that her favorite song is from the bluegrass genre called “Wagon Wheel” (I had never heard this song before).
