In the book The Omnivores Dilemma, by Michael Pollan he brings us on his journey with him through analyzing the model of “four meals” and how our thinking habits have changed the way we choose to eat and go about eating throughout the years and the role our society and the different expectations put on individuals has effected their thoughts and relationship to food. Each section and chapter of the book is broken up into different fads, opinions and findings that Pollan has found along his journey. Throughout the book his pre determined notions and thoughts around our society with food is challenged but also is backed up by different healthful and food activists like himself and how like minded people can differer in opinions and thoughts on how our society has changed involving
The author Jonathan Safran Foer who in 2009 published a piece called “Eating Animals” has further enhanced this topic by publishing, “Let Them Eat Dog: A Modest Proposal for Tossing Fido in the Oven”. In this essay the author establishes a credibility that allows for his opinion to be heard and his proposal to be given a chance. The author also includes fallacies like that of either/or which is established effectively giving the reader no option but to accept the proposal, this is also thanks to the variety of evidence presented by the author in order to give his proposal a chance. In the mentioned essay, “Let Them Eat Dog: A Modest Proposal for Tossing Fido in the Oven” by Jonathan Safran Foer, the author proposes the idea to eat dogs.
In Grendel, he is only a monster since he is part human. With his human trait mixed with animal trait, he seems to be a monster because of his morphed body, but that is at first glance. Most of his monster traits are deep human traits, like his cannibalism, his murderous ideas, or even his thought process that life is meaningless. These are all human traits and but not visible in every person, so in post two by Freddy he call Grendel inhuman nature, but I do not see an inhuman nature but a disturbed persons brain, which only makes him more human because he developed the wrong way not by the standard person’s life. For example in the Dominican Republic they eat a meal called “Mondongo” and this dish is basically pig or cow intestine including the stomach, feet, and many other inner parts. To the people of the Dominican Republic this meal is part of their tradition and it’s a type of delicacy. On the other hand in many other places it’s seen as dirty or something that shouldn’t be eaten. Being a poor country all parts of the animals are not to be wasted thus making it a norm. Another example of the Omnivore’s dilemma is deciding what to eat and what not to eat based on the condition of how what they are going to consume was grown or raised.
Barbarity in Montaigne In “Of Cannibals” by Michel de Montaigne there is repeated usage of the word barbarous in different forms. Montaigne uses this word to describe the natives several times, however he also uses it introspectively to look at European society. The author’s usage of barbarous is revealing, it’s usage questions if the natives acts are savage or simply different but in no way more primitive than European acts. This question is explored throughout the essay as Montaigne struggles to define barbarity; whether it is acts of savagery, or simply foreign ideas or actions.

Mark Twain was a prominent humorous American writer in the late 19th century who was infamous for satirizing many elements of society and writing in a vernacular that most people could understand. He believes that humor is “strictly a work of art” and that it is much subtler than comedy which “shouts [the nub] at you … every time” (Source A). Using his sense of humor, Mark Twain writes “Cannibalism in the Cars” and uses repetition and irony to achieve a humorous effect. Throughout the whole story, Twain uses repetition through anaphora and alliteration which creates suspense by emphasizing certain parts of his story to make the end seem more humorous.
According to Mark Twain, humorous stories are very different from comic and witty stories. Humor adds amusement and interest in the message that is being delivered. “Cannibalism in the Cars” delivers the humorous message by using irony, satire, and syntax. The irony in the short story is in the way that the senators speak so sophisticated.
In the book “Life of PI” there are two versions or stories, one is about how PI makes friends with a tiger on the lifeboat and the other animals eat each other, and also the other version where Pi ends up eating the other humans. I believe that the second version is true. Even though cannibalism is a horrific topic to think about it is more realistic. In today’s world, there is a division among the people in the world regarding whether or not it is ethical to eat meat. After researching about eating meat and vegetarianism, I have come to the conclusion that it is indeed ethical to eat meat in today’s society. Sure, eating meat might have its drawbacks, but I have found that the benefits of eating meat far outweigh the negatives of eating it. Eating meat not only helps improve people’s health, but it also helps strengthen our economy and it has little difference in the environmental impact that involves in the farming of vegetables.
