As the United States moves toward fostering equal rights for all their citizens, the Selective Service Act (or draft) is a prominent topic that is controversial in order to achieve this goal. More specifically, as the draft is only required to be used for men ages 18-24, it begs the question of gender equality in the United States. Therefore, many citizens of the United States feel that it is necessary to draft women in order to achieve gender equality. In the United States, women should not be included in the Selective Service Act based on physical limitations as well as responsibilities required at home. Although some women have the necessary potential to join in the military, they are generally not able to due to physical limitations. This is the reason why many sports and even the Olympics are separated by gender.
