Philip II was the King of Spain and he once said, “I would rather lose all my lands and hundreds of lives than be king over heretics,”(izquotes) and this is relevant because heretics was a conflict during his reign. Philip was born into a royal family with his farther being The Holy Roman Emperor, and once he died Philip inherited Spain. During Philips reign he used a certain concept for his method of running the government, and he had to deal with many encounters of foreign policy including the Spanish Armada. Then on January 16,1556 Philip inherited the kingdoms of Spain along with the Spanish overseas empire. Shortly after Philip inherited Spain he had to go to the Netherlands to fight the French in which Spain was victorious in 1557. After the war had ended Philip did not want to see another battlefield, and just plainly disliked war, but if war was needed eventually again he would deal with it. So he returned to Spain in 1559, and never left the Iberian Peninsula again. Along the way of his earlier years in ruling he did hit a few bumps in the road. Such as he ruled his kingdom from Madrid, and he never traveled to the other parts of the kingdom. So eventually the people who never saw him turned against the church, and him causing a major uproar. This happened mainly in the Netherlands. Philips government ideas and things where all write on paper, and all of his advice and reports where presented by the minsters.Also though Philip believed that whatever he did, he did it for God, and that if it went wrong it was because the plan was not in Gods will so it wasn't his fault(Philip II).
