“The Declaration of Independence” was written by a man named Thomas Jefferson. It was accepted by the Second Continental Congress. This document explains the reasons why the British colonies living in North America wanted independence during the July of 1776. It opens up with a preamble that describes the document's pure necessity. It explains why the colonies have overturned King George III and decided to become an entirely different country. The meat of the document implies that all men are created equal as well as their being certain unalienable rights that should never be violated by the government. These rights certain rights are the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.When the government doesn't protect those rights, it is the right and duty of the people to overthrow and change that existing government. To replace that government, the people should install a government that will protect those three unalienable rights. It is uncommon for a government to be overthrown, and you should not overthrow the government for petty reasons. He intervened with the colonists' fair judicial system and the rights to self-government. The King also instituted legislation(along with Great Britain's Parliament)that disturbed the colonies and he got no consent from the colonies. They levied taxes onto the colonies. King George III also removed their right to trial by jury, required the colonies to quarter British soldiers, and also prevented the colonies from freely trading.
