In particular I am going to be talking about Earl Warren; his early life, he was a past chief justice, why he chose what he did and the three major cases he worked on throughout his life. Influential Person Research Paper Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was an influential figure because of his contributions to the Civil Rights Movement despite the challenges he faced such as constantly being arrested and his house being bombed. One of the first accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was his founding and presidency of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). The SCLC is a civil rights group that focused on desegregating the south. The group's first focus was on desegregating the bus system, but they eventually moved on to greater things such as registering blacks to vote and organizing peaceful protests. This proves that King was a successful civil rights leader, even though he struggled against racists whites in power that would try to oppress him and his group.

While many of the well-known civil rights movement activists were in major publicity during the 50s and 60s like MLK and Malcolm X there will always have to be one that starts it all and that is Booker T Washington. Booker Washington was the Father for being an equal rights activist and paved the way for many other African-American leaders. He is most well-known for giving quite big speeches about how all African Americans should be allowed to have basic education. From these speeches he was considered to be a man who wanted greatly for African American freedom, but some people didn’t think he did.
Dubois. Dubois was an incredibly intelligent African American and was also one of the founders of the NAACP. Dubois wanted full rights for African Americans and wouldn’t be satisfied with partial rights. With his position in the NAACP and editor of its journal, “The Crisis”, Dubois had a lot of influence. He definitely put his influence to good use in arguing against the Plessy vs. Ferguson decision, which stated that segregation was legal as long as both races had equal opportunities.

For many reasons Martin Luther King Jr. was a person who was important to Civil Rights due to a speech and a legacy. Martin Luther King Jr. was important to history and Civil Rights, because his goal was for everyone, including his own children to live in a nation where they’re not judged by color, but instead of the content of their character. The first piece of evidence is when Martin Luther King Jr. says “one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”
Martin Luther King Jr. helped us realize that segregation and poverty are wrong. He also helped us realize that we should treat people the same. No matter race, color, or gender. He has impacted our everyday lives with the Civil Rights Act and his “I Have a Dream…” speech. He is an important man with an important history.
