In the book, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain one of the main characters, Huckleberry Finn is a less fortunate boy with practically no parents and no home. In order to stay alive he sometimes has to steal food and has to sleep wherever he can. The parents of the other boys and girls in the village don’t like Huck and consider him to be “idle and lawless and vulgar and bad,” the parents dont allow their children to associate with him but, they do it anyways. Huck is a good person at heart, he always judges others fairly, and he helps others. In the first portion of the book we see Huck help Muff Potter when others turned against after being wrongly accused of murder. When almost everyone else in town is ready to give up on Muff, Huck realizes that Muff has helped the other boys of the village med their kites and show them the best fishing places, and has given Huck food when he has none for himself. Huck gives Muff tobacco and matches while he is in jail and if had been given the chance would have testified for Muff. Huck also helps the widow. Widow Douglas has been kind to Huck numerous times. Yes he steals, has bad language, and no manners but, no one in his life was there to tell him those things were wrong and to provide for him. He didn't go to school, church, or have responsibilities because his parents were not present in his life to teach him between right and wrong, and to give him good morals in life to follow by. Huck is known as the son of the town drunkard around the village and even before you really know Huck that is hanging over his head and it makes others judge him based on what he has no control over. Therefore Huck is not bad, just misunderstood and a underprivileged
