This whole tragedy was planned and committed by John Wilkes Booth, a well-known actor. Booth committed this horrible crime because he didn’t like the fact that the war was over and the North had won.

Their attempts to amass power as Populares were opposed by the Optimates within Romes Senate, among them Cato the Younger with the frequent support of Cicero.
Five days after the Confederacy’s surrender, John Wilkes Booth had successfully killed one of the most influential presidents in American history to do what he believed would redeem power to the southern states. I believe the assassination of Abraham Lincoln was unjust because he opposed slavery and was a good leader however some believe he is what started the civil war that cost the North and South to fight each other. He was shot, at an event that was held to congratulate America for winning the Spanish American War, by Leon Czolgosz, but died eight days later from the wound causing gangrene. This book is not only about the assassination of President Lincoln, but it’s about the end of the Civil War too. O’Reilly’s Killing Lincoln has many strengths and weaknesses, overall, it’s a good book.
In all honesty, no one would have really known of what happened to Lincoln if he had survived. However, it may have turned out quite differently based off what Lincoln had already begun with his plans for Reconstruction with the Proclamation of Amnesty and Reconstruction. He strived to unify the country. To the best of his ability, he would have helped the black people by making sure local governments within the states allowed them the right to vote. With his focus on the matter of equality, the problems with the southerners could've been counteracted and the uprising of racial oppositional groups (KKK) could have eradicated.
Soon after he was murder. Obviously he was catching other people 's attention for someone to do this. This person was intimidated by Lincoln. in another hand there was Andrew Johnson, he also wanted to rebuild the union soon after lincoln was murdered. On April 14, 1865, famous actor, John Wilkes Booth assassinated President Abraham Lincoln. The only question is, why, what made Booth kill Lincoln? John Wilkes Booth was mainly politically motivated, he was angry that the Confederacy lost the Civil War. I know this because, in chapter 1 of the book “Chasing Lincoln’s Killer” by, James Swanson it says the only reason Booth didn’t fight for the Confederacy was because his mother convinced him not to. He then felt like he was a coward and owed the Confederacy.
In the spring of 1868, all of America was focused on Congress to see if the President of the United States was going to be removed from office. On May 16, 1868, Congress was crowded with government officials, journalists, and citizens all waiting for the outcome of the trial. Individuals were impeached and removed from office before, however, President Andrew Johnson was the first president to be impeached. This raises numerous questions such as why Johnson was put on trial; what made radicals hell-bent on impeaching him; did he even commit a high crime and misdemeanor; and was Andrew Johnson’s impeachment justified. Andrew Johnson was not what the United States had expected.
