“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” This is a quote said by none other than Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Franklin Roosevelt was a very important part of history. If you looked back and examined the life of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, you would see that he is a great example of leadership. He has done a lot for this country Franklin Delano Roosevelt is famous because he was the 32nd president. He was born in 1882 in Hyde Park, NY. His parents were James Roosevelt and Sara Roosevelt. He was an only child, so his family was extra supportive of him. At age 14 Franklin attended Groton School. Growing up, he admired his 5th cousin Theodore Roosevelt. For example, he rallied America against Nazi Germany and Japan right after the Great Depression. He also established the U.S. Social Security System. Another point is that he was the longest serving president in U.S. history. You have to be a really good leader in order to be elected as president four times and serve 12 years (he died soon after he was elected for his fourth term). He reshaped the American presidency to look and act more like the caretaker of the people. He also helped create the United Nations. Franklin Roosevelt also did some bad things. He had an affair with his wife’s secretary. When Eleanor found out about it she threatened to leave him. Franklin’s mom then said that she would support Eleanor financially if she stayed in the marriage. Even though he did some bad things I still think that he was a good leader.
