Imagine you are a notable politician, and your nation is amid an economic crisis. You are paralyzed from the waist down, and there are doubts about whether you are suitable to run for president: would you run for president to try and save your country despite the challenges you will have to face? This exact scenario happened with Franklin Delano Roosevelt. He decided to take this challenge head-on and save his country. Franklin revived the United States amid the Great Depression using the skills he learned from his early life, education, family life, personal conflicts, and early political career, creating a legacy that will go down in the history books

For example, Roosevelt was ready to face the challenges of being president, “When the little flurry became the blizzard of the Great Depression, FDR realized the county was in a deep crisis. But he also saw the crisis as an opportunity. Since 1932 was a presidential election year. He would toss his hat into that ring” (Marrin 106). This shows the boldness of Roosevelt. This includes his mentality and never backing down. Next, Roosevelt ran for president and was happy with the results, “Franklin beat his opponent, President Herbert Hoober, by a landslide. Out of forty-eight states, he lost only six. The Roosevelt era had begun” (Frith 54). This shows that most of the country knew he was the right candidate. Next, “[...] he was sworn in as the thirty-second president of the United States[…]” (Frith 55). This shows that he was officially dedicated to fixing the economy. His early career in politics helped him prepare for the great depression. The best thing about FDR was his lasting legacy on all of America. In conclusion, Franklin Delano Roosevelt was a brave, hardworking, determined, and intelligent person that helped the United States survive the Great Depression.
