Overall, the Japanese were interned during World War one because they were seen as a hypothetical threat to U.S security. The U.S viewed the Japanese population as saboteurs and more specifically, a threat national security. In document B of the Japanese internment DBQ it describes how the U.S racistly generalized the Japanese as Saboteurs who would easily destroy anything in their sight. With the mass hysteria in regards to the stereotype, the U.S too more precaution in regards to the Japanese community and imprisoned them. Moreover, another reason the Japanese were interned is because the Japanese only posed a threat to American security on the West coast.
The relocation of Japanese into internment camps was necessary for national security and protection for the people, but it ignored the fact that many Japanese citizens and noncitizens alike had to leave much of their homes, valuables, and assets behind, lived in horrible conditions in the camps, isolated them from everyone, and disrupted their lives greatly. Simply, relocating 120,000 people to a different location was overboard. Military personnels at the defense bases and factories could easily restrain any people from approaching the bases and facilities. They could also tell the Japanese people or Asian race in general apart from the white Americans since anybody of Japanese ancestry was easily recognizable. Moreover, every citizen was already told advised to report any suspicious persons or activities to the government for investigation after the incident at Pearl Harbor.
Imprisoning thousands of Japanese and disciplining them for the actions of a small group, is inappropriate and unfair. Due to the internment camps, many family members were lost and many families were torn apart. There was absolutely no justification in the American Government taking away the Japanese’s civil rights and flipping their whole lives
This was a horrible idea even though this was an after effect on WWII . But I would rather been in the Japanese internment camps instead of the holocaust I think anyone would in my opinion . Lets not forget that Pearl Harbor started this and led to the war , yes the WWII was good for the Jews but pointless for the Japanese because they shouldve never moved them in the first place .
How would you feel if one day you were told to leave your whole life behind to live in captivity just because people halfway across the world did something wrong? This horror story was all too true for the thousands of Japanese Americans alive during World War II. Almost overnight, thousands of proud Japanese Americans living on the west coast were forced to leave their homes and give up the life they knew. The United States government was not justified in the creation of Japanese internment camps because it stripped law-abiding American citizens of their rights out of unjustified fear.
The Japanese were not placed in internment due to their race/ancestry for three reasons: They were the ones responsible for their removal, Justice Black’s statement that “Exclusion of those of Japanese origins were deemed necessary because of the presence of unascertained number of disloyal members of the group, most of whom we have no doubt were loyal to this country” (Japanese Interment pg. 3) and because the United States were at war with the Japanese Empire. The first reason the Japanese were not placed in interment due to their race/ancestry was that they were the ones responsible for their removal. If the Japanese did not attack Pearl Harbor the United States would not have joined World War II in the first place. Roosevelt would not have created the War Relocation Authority to relocate them either. The Japanese-Americans also failed to voluntarily remove themselves from the West
They had to pack all their things and Document D states “Evacuees were each allowed to bring only one duffel bag and two suitcases; all other possessions were to be sold or stored…be sold at a fair price; however, businesses, homes, cars, and other items were sold quickly.” Document D also shows stores that the Japanese Americans had to sell and the second picture shows all the Japanese Americans gathered with their luggage waiting to go on the bus to Manzanar internment camps. These pieces of evidence prove that the Japanese went through a lot with the process and concept of the internment camps. And after they got to the camps They also had to keep security so that there wouldn't be any problems. Document A shows a soldier with a gun standing outside the houses and by the looks of it, the image of the house appeared to be in a line formation and the houses looked very small and were surrounded by dirt.
The internment of Japanese-Americans was justified because there were Japanese suspects. Between ten internment camps in Arizona, California, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, and Arkansas, about 250-300 people in each camp were suspects under surveillance. Only around 50-60 people were actually considered dangerous. “It is easy to get on the suspect list, merely a speech in favor of Japan being sufficient to land one there” (Munson 2). Clearly, America was taking extreme precautions.
From 1941 to 1946 Japanese- Americans were incarcerated and kept in internment camps strictly because of their race. Document E is a passage taken from a newspaper that promotes civil rights. The newspaper tells its readers that, “Color seems to be the only possible reason why thousands of American citizens of Japanese ancestry are in concentration camps,” (Document E). Japanese- Americans were being incarcerated and it was mainly because of the prejudice against their race. Racism was a contributing factor in the decisions that surrounded the incarceration, therefore, Japanese- American internment was unjustified.
The Japanese Internment Camps were United States controlled concentration camps during WWII for the accused Japanese-Americans, urged on by the paranoia citizens and ended by the Nisei’s loyalty. The establishment began by the relocation order, also known as Executive Order 9066. All of the American citizens of Japanese descent were relocated in a short period of time and endured the conditions of the war camps. An intern based army on the Allied side and two major court cases made the US reconsidered the Executive Order and shut down the internment camps. When Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in December, the citizens of America were terrified and blamed the Japanese-Americans.
The internment of Japanese Americans during WWII was not justified. After Pearl Harbor, many Americans were scared of the Japanese Americans because they could sabotage the U.S. military. To try and solve the fear President Franklin D Roosevelt told the army in Executive order 9066 to relocate all Japanese Americans living on the West Coast. They were relocated to detention centers in the desert. Many of them were in the detention centers for three years.
The Japanese Internment camps were a product of discrimination. This is the same for the Concentration Camps in Europe. One would cause the deaths of millions of people. The other would cause the government to apologise to the people in the camps, and give 20,000 dollars in reparations. Executive Order 9066 was one of the reasons that Internment camps were out in place.
In my opinion I do not think internment of the American Japanese could be avoided. With Pearl harbor being bombed and American Japanese, although loyal to this country, there was a fear of a Japanese invasion of the west coast. I feel

Roosevelt resigned the order, the last internment camp was closed by the end of 1945.” “In 1988 the congress paid each survivor of the camps twenty thousand dollars.” “It is estimated that seventy three million dollars people are still getting their money for the violation of their freedom.”
Looking at the “alternatives” we see a variety of more simplified options. Looking at the options it seems strange that the choice of internment was made. The Law enforcement option was the Isai (Japanese immigrants to the United states) and Nisei (Japanese Americans born in the United States), secondly limit travel visas into or out of the United States, limit the geography the Isai and Nisei could go, and take away work from those who were acting questionably. Domestic exclusion zones were also put up for debate which would exclude Isai or Nisei from working on or near military bases, war manufacturing companies, and away from coast lines or boarders. Mass deportation was an option for non-citizens but due to the high expense it was not an economically feasible option at the time.
